We have known that Jesus and Christ carry different meanings, though both are significant. We have also understood in biblical languages any name carries definitive meaning. In the post "Biblical Teaching on Jesus" we reviewed biblical teaching regarding Jesus, now let us turn to biblical teaching on Christ.
The word Christ, Christos, the Greek equivalent of the Hebrew Messias, means "anointed." According to the Old Law, priests (Exodus 29:29; Leviticus 4:3), kings (1 Samuel 10:1; 24:7), and prophets (Isaiah 61:1) were supposed to be anointed for their respective offices; now, the Christ, or the Messias, combined this threefold dignity in His Person.
Let us focus on its significance whenever we encounter Christ revealed in the Holy Bible.
