Give Me Liberty, or Give Me Bomb!

--Dgateway  世界論壇網

揙ur dead lie in a long row: women and children, young and old. And we stand facing them, facing the vacuum created by their murders, and we are speechless.?These are the beginning words of a famous speech by Ariel Sharon to the Israel parliament after the notorious Passover massacre in Netanya of Israel on March 27, 2002, when twenty some innocent lives were blown up with a suicide bomb. Six years later in the same month, this country met its own version of the Passover massacre with over a dozen victims, including women and children, young and old, and Han and Tibetan. Only the difference in Lhasa this time lies in the fact that the murderers from Dharmsla are characteristically more brutal and more barbaric, reminiscent of Tibet抯 darkest serfdom days before the liberation half a century ago. As we read about 5 young girls being burned alive, as we read about an old man stoned to death Stephen-, as we read about their cutting off a man抯 ears who was trying to save two children, and as we read about the fact that even medical personnel in ambulance were not immune to their killing spree, we cannot help asking what we have done to Tibetans that has brought such monstrous hatred against we ethnic Han people? What have we done to Tibet that has made them to believe that the only good Han is a dead Han?

We built schools in Tibet. We built thousands of them. Today, close to a hundred percent of school-age children in Tibet are attending school, learning both Tibetan and Mandarin languages. Illiteracy rate is less than 10%. Over ten thousand Tibetans are attending college. Yet, Dalai Lama calls it cultural genocide.

We built monasteries. We built thousands of them. Since 1978, the central government in Beijing has spent billions to finance the restoration of all the Lamaist monasteries in Tibet. Not so lucky if you are the pastor of a Christian church or the iman of a Muslim mosque in Tibet. Today, close to a hundred percent of monks and nuns in Tibet are on government payroll, never having to worry about the next tithes to feed on. Yet, Dalai Lama calls it cultural genocide.

We built railroads. We built the highest, the longest, the hardest and yet the most beautiful railroad in the world on the Tibetan plateau, costing billions of tax money. Many working people sacrificed their lives during construction over a time span of 40 years to make a dream come true. Dalai Lama must still remember his first trip to Beijing in 1954, when it took him 28 days to merely travel from Lhasa to a small town by the name of Jialongbei on the outskirt of the Tibet region. Today the same trip takes less than 28 hours by train. Yet, Dalai Lama calls it cultural genocide.

We preserve the Tibetan cultural through studies of its history and literature. We researched Tibetan medicine. We built roads, highways, hotels, factories, power plants, residential housing, and shopping malls in Tibet. We create jobs or give out food stamps. We emancipated people from the shackle of poverty and illiteracy, and empower them to pursue their dreams. We let Tibetans raise whatever number of children as they wish ?The list goes on and on. Yet, Dalai Lama calls them all cultural genocide.

Why is the nation抯 whole-hearted embrace of Tibet and our Tibetan brothers returned with wanton violence and terror against us? Because the gang of murderers in Dhamsla has a hate-mongering ring leader, whose only purpose is to roll back the clock to his Holiness?Medieval theocracy half a century ago. And for that, Dalai Lama and his clique is willing to do anything. This and all past administrations have offered him numerous opportunities of peaceful settlement of his grudge. Yet Dalai Lama decided to choose a different path, a path of terror, deception and self-destruction. To be fair, resort to terrorism is nothing new to Dalai Lama. Underneath the fa鏰de of peace and nonviolence lies a trace of blood stain at least half a century old. As a young boy, Dalai Lama was mentored by Sergeant Heinrich Harrer, a known member of Hitler抯 SS special force. He admitted that he once said Hitler is not a bad man. After he fled to India in 1959, Dalai Lama became CIA抯 henchman in engaging a terrorist guerilla war on China. Dalai Lama is also a good friend of Shoko Asahara, the infamous Japanese doomsday cult leader who poison-gassed innocent people. In recent years, the Tibetan Youth Congress, the arms wing of Dalai Lama抯 regime has instigated several violent riots. It is also responsible for several terrorist bombings in Chinese cities. In public, Dalai Lama often portrays an image of peace and non-violence, but in reality he represents anything but peace and non-violence.

To such a naked terrorist Inquisitor who is determined to chase ethnic Han out of Tibet, we had better get prepared for the bomb and the blood, as it is an inevitable cost of freedom, democracy and civilization. Let us be clear on this point, this is not a fight between ethnic Han and ethnic Tibetan, as we have seen stories of Tibetan saving Han in this riot . This is a fight of justice against murder, freedom against evil, progressiveness against backwardness, civilization against barbarism, democracy against theocracy, and people抯 government against the Medieval Inquisition. During the last two weeks, we have seen that the people of Lhasa and Tibet in general, including both ethnic Tibetans and Han, is not going to be held hostage to terrorism. We are a proud people and our spirit will not be broken.

Several days ago, US secretary of state Condolezza Rice issued a statement urging China to open talk with Dalai Lama. I would suggest that the foreign ministry spokesman offer a reply quoting the words from her boss, Mr. George Bush:

"Terror must be stopped. No nation can negotiate with terrorists. For there is no way to make peace with those whose only goal is death."
