There is always a generation gap between our parents and us no matter where and when we were born. For example, sometimes we feel like older people don't understand our problems at all or our parents criticize us for having no sense of urgency. Unfortunately, most of us including our parents have never been told to discuss ways of improving the relationship with parents, bridging the generation gap and maintaining the family bond. As we grow up or graduate from colleges, financial independence will further widen the generation gap. Some of us prefer to stay away from our parents when having our first jobs, and so did I. I took a job in Shanghai instead of staying in the town my parents lived after leaving school, and kept the distance from them. I thought I did the best for both my parents and myself but didn't really know about their then wishes.

Different than the gap between the rich and the poor, neither our parents nor we intend to close the generation gap because many of our parents live in their old memories and philosophy belonging to their generation and we as well enjoy where and what we are now. Hope we can bridge the gap through the discussion and dialogue between the generations to leverage the relationship and to understand each other better.

Thank you for writing to give us the many inner reasons that the gap between our parents and us exits and the ways that we could follow to think of and appreciate the love our parents gave to us.

Actually Generation gap exsits all the time. The width of the generation gap depends on their education ( both the parents' and children's) and surrounding environment and family background.

I have two friends. Both of them have a 18 yrs son. Their relationship between parents and children  is so different. One is very good, the son likes to talk everything with their parents, even including the thougts about making  a girlfriend. Another one, he is lazy to talk one sentence with his parents. You can imagine how the two pair of parents will react in this kind of situation.  When they face Whoever is  talking about their son, you can imagine how they will react!!

As parents and children, we should   try to respect and love each other.

Thank you for refreshing my memory. This was part of my email to one of my net friends, but not the best part. I have saved the best for both of us. She was having trouble with her parents in summer 2004. She knew my real name but not my whereabouts, while I knew her only by her fictitious name. What I tried to do by posting this here was to hope we all could learn how to leverage the relationship between the different generations as parents, sons or daughters. You don』t have to take my words seriously, take your loved ones seriously. I have paid the cost through learning this and hope you don』t have to.

The guardians, we all need to think more, Please make more communications with the teachers,, and try your best to read your chidren, understand their vulnerable hearts, especially when they are young, let them feel all the time you love them , and care about them then, your child certainly could not be bad. Really, nurtures does not need the specialty, but you certainly must have a correct compassion to make the instruction, what should be done, what should be said... all must have a certain

Dear children, please respect your parents. There is no parent who doesn't love their children. Please try  your  best to understand your parents' hardship. Try to love your parents becaue love is mutual.
