BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
The Candidate serves as the Amerita Chief Food Technology Officer working Laboratory in Tianjin TEDA, under the direction and guidance of the Amerita Manager General. In this capacity, the incumbent is responsible for managing the Food Laboratory daily operation and coordination and oversight of U.S. FDA China Office-supported regulated product activities and programmatic efforts. The Candidate provides strategic advice to strengthen the cooperation with host-country government and industry officials while enhancing the effectiveness and impact of U.S.-China collaborative programs dealing with the safety and quality of these FDA regulated products.
The Candidate has responsibility for assisting in the development and negotiation of new public health programs and activities relating to FDA regulated products. The Candidate also has responsibility to review and analyze health-related policy documents (especially those relating to food safety) and publications, to prepare reports and provide information for U.S. agencies and scientists to assist in cooperative work.
Laboratory Operations
· Provide strong technical and administrative leadership to FS group
· Stay abreast of technical developments in food microbiology and implement new techniques, practices and analytical methods to provide state-of-the-art services
· Serve as team leader for individual projects in FS and other segments within the PR&M Division.
· Write proposals, reports and SOPs
· Travel as required (30%)
Experience in the following areas is a must:
· Food borne pathogens
· Food spoilage microorganisms
· Experience designing Food pathogen/spoilage challenge studies, process validations, Thermal Death Time studies.
· Thermal-bacteriology – Microbial destruction kinetics
The Candidate should have very strong food inspection practice experience and be very familiar to the following inspection processes based on FDA regulations:
1. Inspection Samples of all to deal with process,
2. Physical and Chemical Analysis testing, chemical analysis testing, microbiological analysis inspection
3. Inorganic analysis, post analysis, atomic absorption techniques
4. Have full knowledge and master of the following tests:
- Pesticide residues
- Veterinary drug residues
- All kinds of food additives
- Heavy metal Inspection.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Ph.D. with 2--4 years experience, MS/MBA or BS with 4-6 years experience or Ph.D./MS/MBA or BS with 2-4 years experience as Food Laboratory Manager or related experience or a combination of education and work experience indicating an ability to effectively perform the essentials function of the position.
Knowledge:
- The Candidate must have an advanced, highly detailed knowledge of regulatory and technical aspects of consumer protection, public health policy and regulated food product safety and quality program issues in China, including administrative, operational and financial systems of the relevant government.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to: analyze and understand staffing requirements in order to meet market demands for assigned segments; quantify the market opportunity and expected business financials; and implement new techniques, practices and analytical methods to provide state-of-the-art services to customers. Make client presentations providing all relevant data, value to client and requited information.
