回復 #123 飛魚2008 的帖子
Thanks 飛魚2008. Sorry for the late response.
You really thought of many things, and I do agree with you on many your good points. Marital love is a bit different from the love between God and humans. There is no denying that. Faith and love are also different things. I don't think I am trying to equate them. All I wanted to point out is: Matters of faith are not subject for proofs. It is futile to access faith through rationality ultimately. However, matters of faith can be accessed through personal experience. I cited love as an example, not because it can be equated with faith in God, nor because human and divine love are the same. They obviously are not, but both bear a striking characteristic: their access ultimately must be experiential.
Having said that, there is no denying that rationality can help us to get there or help strengthen our faith. The Christian faith is a rational faith, but the starting point is faith, as the motto of St. Anselm of Canterbury (1033-1109) sensibly states — [the Christian faith is ] "Faith seeking understanding (fides quaerens intellectum)", not the other way around.
If you wish to discuss all other matters you mentioned, you may start new posts on them. |
