There are 2 kinds of range hoods. One kind recycles the air back to your room. This kind uses a charcol filter. This filter cannot be washed and needs to be replaced regularly. The second kind exhause to the outside via a duct. This one usually has a metal-mesh filter and need to be washed regularly.
If you don't wash or change the filter, it will clog up. Worse yet, the grease may fall back onto an open flame or a hot element and catches fire.
The charcol filter is black and the metal mesh is silvery.
yeti, Thank u so much!!! u r always so helpful for me!!!
I checked my range hood and didnt find any duct. It seems mine is the second type which requires me change the filter regularly. Where is the filter located ? Is the facing down white net attached on the range hood?It is available in any supermarket?
Did I make myself clear? I guess I didnt express it appropriate.
