Me: You need to do some extra math exercises during school holidays.

Daughter: Why?

Me: Do you want to live in a nice house, have a good job when you grow up?

Daughter: Yes.

Me: If you do not study well, then you'll not get a good job, and have no money to buy a nice house.

Daughter: I see. But "Tim" in my class does not do it, why should I do?

Me: Where do Tim's parents work?

Daughter: They work in the grocery stores.

Me: Do you want to work there when you grow up?

Daghter: No way. The pay is too low. Well, it looks like I have to do it (and I can make money at the same time).

(in case that "Tim"s parents are computer specialists:

Me: What do you think "Tim" will do when he grows up? Will he be smart enough to work with computer other than playing stupid computer games?

Daughter: "Tim" is bad in all his school subjects, and is too dumb to work like his parents. Maybe "Tim" will become an excellent burger-flipper.

Me: Well, the only way to become smarter is to do more math exercises. That is why you need to do it.
