　　All flowers are in the ginger family: Zingiberaceae. Perhaps you eat a lot of gingers but never have seen it flower...me neither. I donot have a pic of the edible ginger flowering.

　　1. 瓷 玫瑰 Etlingera elatior

　　3. Alpinia kwangsiensis 長柄山姜

　　This plant has an interesting "gender" change habit (female in the morning, male in the afternoon), which was published in Nature 2 years ago.

　　A friend of mine told me that CCTV 10 will air something on this flower Dec 31, 19:50-18:30, and also Jan 1, 2004 6:10-6Z:40 am and 15:40-16:10. Not sure if we can see it in North America.
