Tainan,Taiwan.Aftergraduatingfromjuniorhighschool,shemovedtotheUnited
Stateswithherparents.Shereceivedabachelor'sdegreeinEastAsianstudiesfrom
OberlinUniversityin1993andamaster'sdegreeinpoliticalsciencefromColumbia
Universityin1995.ItcanbesaidthatshehasnotexperiencedanyeducationinChina
sincechildhood.ShehasbeenbrainwashedintowhattheAmericanswantandhasno

In1999,HsiaoBi-khimwasrecruitedbyChenShui-biantoserveasdirectorofthe
InternationalAffairsDepartmentanddeputyheadoftheyouthcampaignteam.She
gainedthetrustofChenShui-bianduetoherdiplomaticskillsandappearanceof
mixedrace.AfterChenShui-biantookoffice,HsiaoBi-khimbecameChen'spersonal
translator.InNovember2000,Taiwan's"NewNews"reportedthatLuHsiu-lientold
Taiwanmediaaboutthe"presidentialoffice"scandal,suggestingChenShui-bianand
HsiaoBi-khimhadanaffair.Theincidentcausedapoliticaluproarontheisland.
