Express the mighty strength of life in lonesome and tranquil contemplation---A dissertation on Chang Yao』s <The Side View of Snow-capped E Ri Duo Mountain>


生命,是昌耀詩歌的總主題,呈示生命,是昌耀全部詩歌的根本目的和內在邏輯。昌耀將深刻體驗到的生命理念、立場、情感傾注、融貫到精心選擇的生命意象中,雕鑄了一幅幅真實而頑強的生命圖畫。本文關注昌耀寫於1962年的短詩《峨日朵雪峰之側》,這首創作於早期、並不太著名的詩作,定格了昌耀所有詩歌的情緒基調和精神向度,是他生命精神質量的承載,更是他對生命本質強力的確認。

Life is the overall theme of Chang Yao』s poetry. Presenting life is the fundamental objective and underlying logic of all of Chang Yao』s poetry.

Chang Yao presented her fundamental understanding of the notion, standpoint and emotions of life by her delicately selected imagery of life, and moulded them into some real and persistent images.

The article focuses on the poem by Chang Yao in 1962. This poem was written by her at the early stage of her professional life as a poetess. Though, failed to attract much attention, the poem set the basic tune of the emotions and spiritual dimensions of her later works. It was a vehicle for presenting the spirit of life. More so was it a forceful affirmation of the essence of life.

An introductory trial and an invitation for better considerations

Honestly, I had difficulty to understand the terms in the original Chinese text (which did not come with proper annotations and which I learned only after reading the English translations: thanks to OutOfSight for his faithful and nice translation). It seems that the author has chosen a free s^tyle to write her article and picked her words in a creative way as if she was writing a poem (which makes me a nut

(abstract) As a constant theme, life in the various representations was the main objective and also served as the backbone of the underlying logic in all CY's poems. 昌耀將深刻體驗到的生命理念、立場、情感傾注、融貫到精心選擇的生命意象中,雕鑄了一幅幅真實而頑強的生命圖畫。 The title poem on which this article focuses was written in 1962 when the poetess was still at her early stage of professional development. Although it did not receive much attention, this poem presented a clear snapshot of the poetess' 情緒基調和精神向度, which set the basic tone for all her works and existed to bear the weight of her spiritual life and celebrate the birth of new lives in all the forms.
