This posting by sdbzszf is excellent!. It hits the nail right on its head. I fully agree with the very convincing viewpoints. I wonder if the author takes the trouble of sending this high-quality article to Beijing Authority. It is really worthy of the effort. I know they would take it seriously - I used to send them some of my humble suggestions on anti-smoking legistration, and they responded in due course.
The realistic dilemma with our Central Government is probably their worry of a free press that might pose a threat to social stability which is the very foundation of the ongoing successful economic development. This worry is not entirely unfounded especially in the face of continuing western subversive activities supported by their media and powerful NGOs funded by their governments or agents like the CIA and Euro-Asian Democracy Foundation etc. If there be complete media freedom in China, the risk of social chaos and even civil war is not unreal. On the other hand, the current Government approach of strict media control produces no positive result for the country's image and the people. I believe they should adopt an "optimum" policy that allows more free expression by the general public to voice their grievances and as checks and balances to government officials as long as it does not undermine national security.
