Two part TV adaptation of Louis L'Amour's third novel in the Sackett series. The story follows the three Sackett brothers out west from their Tennessee home. Along the way the oldest, Tell, prospects for gold, while the two younger Orin and Tye herd cattle and later help bring order to a racially divided Santa Fe.

【觀眾感想】
----I love good western movies, especially Louis L'Amour's stories. I have to comment on the family upbringing of these boys: how principled they were in their difficult lives in those early days, and not one of them could read or write. Goes to good hearts and strong parental by-laws learned from "Good Book" that each adhered to after leaving mom and dad and all they learned from them just by word of mouth. When right was right and wrong was an absolute wrong.  Yes, it could still be done, if mom was at home all day enforcing family by-laws that both mom and dad agreed upon in the raising of a good family they could be proud of.

----Well done, excellent cast. Mom tried to get me to read Louis Lamour when I was young...regret I didn't. Since then. I've read everything of his except "The Sackets" who were featured in several of his novels. Wonderful writer.

-----I've read every single Louis L'Amour Sackett novels and enjoyed all of them, and the movies as well. While those books are not intended to be literary masterpieces, as some have generously pointed out, the stories are of adventure and a different way of life when the American west was being settled and were never meant to be absolutely 100% historically correct. Louis did an amazing amount of research for his fiction and non fiction stories alike and with over 300 million copies in print at the time of his death he surely was successful at it.

-----Beautiful. Ever since reading the book "The Sacketts"  I have been looking for this.

----- Thanks a heap for posting this!  I never got to see this when it first came out.  I think I went off to college and got busy with other things.  I missed something great.  I love Louis L'Amour's stories.  They translate well to the screen and have a wonderful nostalgic, iconic feel to them.  I really liked the cast chosen for this, especially Ben Johnson and Glenn Ford, but they were all great!

------ Growing up in the '50's and '60's I was a big fan of Gilbert Roland. My wife and I were in Old Tucson while they were filming this when they just finished a scene and all the actors were walking off the set and I told my wife "Look, there's Gilbert Roland". He must have been in his 70's then but he heard me and broke out in a big smile, walked over and said hello. He must have been surprised that anyone would remember his name. He did a lot of good work in his day with many top name stars.
