轉貼方壺齋兩首漢譯詩：「卿老意如何」 「潮起又潮降」

葉芝詩， 卿老意如何       
自以為是的葉芝葉芝年輕時，鍾情於一個革命家女演員鞏毛毛(Maud Gonne)，可是人家不買他的帳。二人雖為好友，葉芝卻始終難得芳心。一天，葉芝給女演員寫了一首詩，要她想想自己老了以後怎麼樣。 葉芝的意思是沒有我你不行。可是人家還是跟一個戎馬生涯為了愛爾蘭跟英國作戰的軍人結婚了。

When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;
老發灰白睡意濃
圍爐頓首夢憧憧
且持此卷細細讀
追憶雙眸溫柔情

How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face;
風度翩翩惹人憐
虛情真愛為美顏
征途神交能幾人
遑論悲苦摧華年
And bending down beside the glowing bars,
Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fled
And paced upon the mountains overhead
And hid his face amid a crowd of stars.
老身佝僂失光彩

愛向高山離君去

The tide rises, the tide falls,
The twilight darkens, the curlew calls;
Along the sea-sands damp and brown
The traveller hastens toward the town,
And the tide rises, the tide falls.
潮起又潮降，天昏水鳥響。海砂潮且黃，旅人歸城忙。此時海潮起，彼時海潮降。

Darkness settles on roofs and walls,
But the sea, the sea in darkness calls;
The little waves, with their soft, white hands,
Efface the footprints in the sands,
And the tide rises, the tide falls.

冥色罩檐牆，幽幽聞海浪。微波施柔指，沙上履蹤亡。此時海潮起，彼時海潮降。

The morning breaks; the steeds in their stalls
Stamp and neigh, as the hostler calls;
The day returns, but nevermore
Returns the traveller to the shore,
And the tide rises, the tide falls.

天明馬立廄，踏地更嘶鳴。馬夫呼來去，一日復甦醒。四顧海邊寂，旅人尋無蹤。
