- In 1997, I was in Laos, I saw the same even worse situation there. At the begining, 1 Yuan=120 JP. In early 1998, it was nearly 1 Yuan=4000 JP. Most of shops which sold Chinese goods were gone....

you are right... Laos' money was cheaper than paper....needed to carry a huge bag of money when I went out...
