近萬名志願者冒著寒風於當地時間1日早晨聚集在澳大利亞標誌性建築悉尼歌劇院拍攝集體「裸照」。報道稱，5000多名不同年齡，身高和體態各異的志願者們在美國著名藝術家斯賓塞·圖尼克的指揮下聚集在這座貝殼性的建築物腳下做出擁抱、躺下或舉手等動作並逐一為鏡頭所記錄。圖尼克表示，眾多的同性戀者裸體躺在他們的鄰居面前，是在向全世界傳達重要的信息，表明澳大利亞是一個自由和平等的國度。這次被名為「基地」的活動是與周六將在悉尼舉行的一年一度的同性戀大遊行相呼應，與此同時，另有5000名「模特」也在悉尼歌劇院內進行拍攝。斯賓塞·圖尼克被認為是世界上最為著名的「裸體藝術」展示家，他曾在世界各地組織多次活動吸引成萬人為他的藝術行為付出「身體」。
