What made ordinary chinese fight against Japanese during the WII? They were fighting for their rights of living without interference of foreigners and living as a human with dignity. These are the basic human rights. The fact that they might not know the ideals of human rights from their daily language demonstrates that deep inside in every one's mind, human rights are the rights born with. It also shows the appeals of this ideal. Who used the words of wanting democracy, wanting freedom, down dictator during the civil wars to inspire the people uprising against the Nationalist government? The communists. That shows the appeals of this ideal to ordinary Chinese. During the 5/4 movement in 1919, democracy and freedom was one of the subjects raised by the intellectuals. The morden chinese history tells that before the communists came to power, the demands for freedom, human rights and democracy played an important role in the changes of chinese society. It is the communist government who has used all means at their disposal to prevent and stop Chinese the rights to realize these ideals.
A hilarious arguement. The author forgot the fact that it is the Russian peope who decided the fate of USSR, not its ruling class or its leader. The people had suffered for far too much and far too long under the communism system. They simply could not bear it any longer. They did not want to face the injustice day in day out brought by the lack of democracy. They did not want to take any longer the miseries caused by the lack of human rights. They wanted to live like a human with dignity. They did not want to see Russia decline further due to the lack of efficiencies in the economy as a result of no freedom of movement of people, resources and free marketing. They had had enough. They said enough is enough. That is what made USSR collapsed like cards. It is a joke to ask the Russian people to suffer more for the sake of the victory of an ideology. Only Mao's disciples could be able to ask that without shame. No conscience at all.
