關於以賽亞[1]書7:14這節經文基督徒及猶太人歷來就有不同的看法:基督徒認為這是耶穌由處女馬利亞而生的證據,是希伯來先知在耶穌出生前幾百年預言耶穌的神奇誕生(處女生子)[2];而猶太人認為以賽亞書7:14根本沒提處女生子,和耶穌的誕生沒有關係。同樣的經文在不同的宗教背景下,有著截然相反的解釋。但通過對聖經原文和譯文的仔細考證,可以知道以賽亞書7:14文本中עַלְמָה(almah)的詞義確實不是處女,基督教[3]方面有的願意承認這點,有的用謊言刻意掩蓋。

使用以賽亞書7:14作為對耶穌的預言是一種有效的傳教手段[72],放棄了可惜,承認錯誤沒勇氣,基督教某種勢力只好用更多的謊言圓謊。筆者在基督教(新教)中見到的《鐵證待判》[73]一書就存在這種現象,該書寫道:
almah(蒙面紗者[74])──此字乃指到達結婚年齡的未婚少女[75]。以賽亞書七章14節中用的即為此字。「聖靈在整本以賽亞書中未曾使用過一次bethulah[76],[77],因為神在此要選擇一字,能同時用來形容童貞與已達婚齡的女子,好能一面配合當時的歷史現況(神所賜亞哈斯之兆頭的實現),又能預言及數百年後[78]彌賽亞將由童貞女[79]所生[80]的事實。」 25/1159
而真實情況是בְּתוּלָה(betulah)這個詞[81]在以賽亞書中出現了多次,《鐵證待判》不僅睜眼說瞎話,而且假借聖靈和神的名義這樣做。
