are you using XP?
if you are, follow these steps.
start--control panel--Date,time,language and rigional options--rigional and language options--language--(check) install files for East Asian languages.
then click the "language" tab at rigional and language options windwos, click "detail", on the setting tab, click "add" to choose the input method you want. i.e Microsoft Pinyin.
