To my dear bros, sisters and friends,
First and foremost, I want to thank you for all of your prayers! I will tell you that Bex and I can sense all your prayers sustaining us and I praise the Lord for experiencing His grace through your prayers. There are so many out there (across the US and in Asia) who I have heard are daily lifting me up in prayer. I am absolutely speechless and moved!!
So as you know, I've been up and conscious for the last couple days and have had some time to really think and pray and process all of this. I have been diagnosed with cancer. This tumor in the frontal lobe of my brain is a bit of a shocker and is a reminder of the fragility of life. But this is not a shocker to the Sovereign God. Everything I have ever learned and experienced of the Living God is that He is just as FAITHFUL and ALIVE and GOOD today as He always has been. I can completely rest in the knowledge that He is the same God I've come to love and worship before this turn of events. I will continue to trust in Him and know that He has a profound care for me, my lovely wife, and my three children (our little boy to be born in September!).
Through this experience I am going through, I am hoping that it will cause each of us to take a much needed "step back" from the pace of our daily pursuits to be still and to just think about these spiritual matters. Our lives are so fragile and in reality, no one knows when their time is up. We should never be so cavalier with the the time we have on this earth. Whether you truly know it or not, there is a spiritual realm to life and the God of the Bible is truly worthy of your trust. Many of you who are not yet Christians have heard me talk about this before and you know how much I long for you to truly know God!! You have got to know, that one of my greatest hopes is that each and every one of you will recognize your need for Christ as Savior and that you would put your trust in Him. Jesus died for you because He loves you. Don't delay putting your faith in Him!!
I wanted to share one of my favorite "attitude" verses about the deep, abiding joy we have in God's goodness, even in the toughest of times. I found it years ago, but much more meaning for me today.. Its found in Habakkuk 3:17-19.
17 Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the LORD,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.
19 The Sovereign LORD is my strength;
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me to tread on the heights.
This verse ROCKS! It conveys exactly how I feel and where my strength comes from, now more than ever. The joy we have from God is NOT contingent on our circumstances, its way deeper than that!
Please do not cease praying for me, for our God is a God who heeds the prayers of His children. Mark 11:24 reminds us, "... whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours..." So, keep praying in faith that I will be healed 100%. Additionally, I praise the Lord because this is exactly how He has designed His church body to function so I am encouraged and edified to see our church and the extended church coming together to prayer. As a body of believers, we are called in Ephesians 6:18 to always be praying for one another, whatever the occasion! As a side note, I would encourage you to attend our thursday night prayer meetings (or your own church's prayer meetings) because there are way more people than me that need your prayers. The prayer meetings I attend are what I've always called a "secret service" unto others, because we pray for so many people that are completely unaware that we gather weekly to lift them up into the Good Lord's hands. If you consistently make the time for it, you will experience the crazy ways that our God answers prayers.
Lastly, I ask that you pray especially for my wife who is one month to her due date of our son and has to deal with all these complications with my health. Pray also for my children that whatever befall me, in my living or my dying, they will never be embittered towards our God and that they will one day truly come to know Him as Lord and Savior. Pray for their salvation and one day living fully for the Lord. There is nothing that would bring me more joy than to see them one day living all out for Jesus!
Thank you all again. For all of you around me who are helping and praying, my prayer for you is that you will experience the faithfulness of God through this journey with me. I'm going to try and do a few youtube videos if you want to see my mug.

If I've never said it before, I love you!
