There is a story in the Bible from chapter of 4 in John. If the Lord Jesus or anyone else did what the devil told Him to do, then it was a test to God.
There are many stories of people who asked the Lord to cure them or their children. It is "Qiu Zhu.'
Test the Lord means you don't trust Him, you want to do something to find out if what you know or what you heard is true. The Lord hates it.
"Qiu Zhu" means there is something you really need the help from the Lord.
So to me, simply said, the difference is the motivation, or intention.
To help you understand better, I will tell you two stories. One happend to someone that I know, the other I heard from the TV.
Many years ago, this friend of mine just got saved in Ohio. In the winter it was snowing and the temperature was way below freezing point. He was only wearing a T shirt and stood in the cold. He said the Lord will protect him from getting sick. Of course, he got sick afterwards. This is an example of testing the Lord. He had warm cloths he could wear and he had a warm room he could to into, he did not put on his cloths to keep him warm, nor did he get into the room to keep him away from the coldness, instead, he stood outside for nothing but to see if the Lord will protect him from getting cold. It is a test to the Lord.
The second story I heard from NBC a long time ago. It is about a Christian prisoner in the former Soviet Union, who was imprisoned in Siberia. A cold winter night, the guards wanted to have some fun. This prisoner was ordered to take off all his cloths in his unheated cell. He was so cold that he got close to the only heat source in his cell, a small light. When the guards saw this, they turned the light off. He was basically let to die. He prayed to the Lord and asked the Lord if his time is up, then let him die that day. After his prayer, he saw a great light, the he felt he was in a very warm room the whole night. The second monring, the guards were shocked to see him alive and unharmed.
From these two stories, I hope you can get a good idea of what is test and what is ask or plea to the Lord. |
