US college to offer midnight classhttp

　　With enrollment surging at community colleges, Anne Arundel Community College is taking a novel approach: midnight classes。

　　The college will offer a psychology class from midnight to 3 am Thursdays this fall. It's being dubbed "Midnight Madness."

　　The class was dreamed up by Matt Yeazel, the head of the psychologydepartment. He said introductory courses have been overflowing inrecent semesters, so he settled on the new time slot as a way to reachmore students. Paul Vinette will be teaching the class. He said it's abold and innovative move for a "brick-and-mortar institution."

　　Community colleges in Massachusetts, Indiana, Missouri and Oregonhave also started offering late-night classes. Enrollment at two-yearschools is up 17 percent this year。


美大學推出「午夜課堂」半夜三點上課
　　為應付入學人數大幅增長，美國馬里蘭州一所社區大學宣布推出「午夜課堂」，上課時間至凌晨3時。

　　據美聯社28日報道，馬里蘭州阿諾德市，一所兩年制社區大學將於今年秋季推出一門心理學課程，授課時間定為每周四凌晨0時至3時，因此被戲稱「午夜瘋狂」。

　　對此，心理系主任解釋說，近幾個學期基礎課程總是滿員，如此安排是為方便更多學生選課。「學生太多，讓我們絞盡腦汁。」將擔綱「午夜課堂」的老師無奈地稱，「這所『木頭腦袋』的學校已經把事情做到極端了」。

　　據稱，美國兩年制大學的入學人數今年增長了17%，馬薩諸塞、印第安納、密蘇里等州都有類似課程。但多數學生認為「午夜課堂」會影響次日上午聽課，「只有夜貓子能適合」。
