it took the states almost 100 years got where it is, do you think it would only take few laws and few years for china?

Well, you are right. But you have to also admit that this is still a significant step the Chinese government took lately for whatever reason. For countless times, it has been always an unfortunate, adverse public health event or disaster that triggered a government's swift actions against unsafe, unethical industrial practices. "In Roosevelt's Name We Bust Trusts: The Meat Inspection Act of 1906" is a good example. This happens everywhere -- e.g. it was not until an outbreak of arsenic poisoning in Japan in 1955 then the Japanese government put a tight control on arsenic levels in foods. The list goes on and on. You don't expect that miracles would happen overnight, but you have to take each and every steps necessary day by day, year by year, to safeguard the people's health. |
