You need to go to the CentreLink in your area. They will do the paperwork for your childcare benefit. Then you need to contact the daycare centres in your area to see if there is any vacancy and the daycare centre will advise you what you need to do. You may need to contact a few daycare centres to find vacancy. Big daycare centres cost about $56 a day depends on your income. Family daycare costs less, but it still depends on your income. If your child is very little, family daycare may be a better choice as he/she can get a lot of attention. This year the government rebate for childcare is 50% which means you need to pay at most 50% of the childcare expenses. I am not sure if this information is helpful. Good luck!
I am not sure how much you need to pay. Centrelink will calculate for you. Our combined taxable income is 95,000 a year. We are paying about $150 a week. Our child is in a family daycare which is cheaper. The fees we are paying keeps changing as well. At one stage we were paying only $10 a week, but Centerlink asked us to backpay the daycare fees once we had our tax done. I think the maximum fee for childcare is about $200 a week for family daycare. My daughter's carer said some big daycare centers cost the same. I think it may depend on which one you go. We knew nothing about childcare at the beginning. We simply contacted a childcare centre and said we want to enroll our child in a daycare. Then the people at the childcare center told us what we need to do. The childcare put my daughter's name down. Then we went to the Centrelink and did some paper work and another council childcare place for some more paperwork. Then we can put our child in a daycare. A lot of paperwork need to be done.
Just contact Centrelink, they will help you with all the information you need.
