I am an intellect educated mostly in the West. I have been closely following views of Western media on the current Tibetan riots. I must point out that, an overwhelming majority of their reportings are biased. CNN, BBC, The Independent, TIME, and Herald etc are often politically motivated and and their comments are stereotypical in line with their habit of "China-bashing". Some of their writings are frankly distorted and would mislead the general public in their countries
and subsequently sway world opinion. Beijing leadership must learn from such
discriminating treatment and should adopt a flexible approach such as allowing
foreign journalists to witness the crime scenes or letting victims of the
riots to speak out the truths to them. Unfortunately, a smart public relation skill is conspicuously absent in the Chinese Foreign Ministry. Let us give full support
to the forthcoming civil rally in Toronto on 29th March and pray for its success.
Western powers seem unwilling to accept the fact that China is steadily rising to become an equal global member like them. They are drumming up their topic of
"China Threat" and are trying every means to demonize and belittle China out of their obsessed pride and prejudice. Their claim of advocating democracy and
human-rights is hypocritical, because deep inside their hearts, their real gaol is
the expansion of their selfish national interests. Chinese compatriots, whether on the mainland or overseas, should be united to defend our national dignity and to
fend off foreign intervention. Unproductive in-fightings only serve to provide extra ammunition to external foes. |
