學英語的迷途
Understanding English is more important than memorizing words.
Too many people rely too much on this and that "methods" for speedy learning, but the fact is, there is no replacement for understanding and application.
Many new almost "illiterate" Chinese immigrants come to the U.S. without basic English knowledge and they can speak almost perfect English after a few years(OK, with some accent), and then there are many College Graduates from China who come here to become professionals, well into middle class demographic yet once they start to talk, even they themselves are ashamed of their own limited ability to communicate.
The difference is that the first group would speak without fear, and they always try to "understand" and "communicate", and the 2nd group always tries to "speak" and they never are able to talk that well.
Maybe it is time to forget about methods, and really try to understand and really communicate. |
