There was a former marine in my public speaking class 2 years ago, his final speech was about "having faith in God and be a peace loving, God fearing man", then he started telling us about how he LOVED being deployed to Iraq and fighting in the battle of Fallujah.
Then there is the 4 marines killing and raping a little girl in Iraq and also killed her whole family.
Then there is the bullshit Army did about Patrick Tillman who got killed by friendly unit in the same Ranger battalion yet the whole army lied about it just so they can hijack the truth and turn it into something " heroic"
Marine is different from all the other branches of military. coast guard is for border defense; navy air force is for long range strategic support; army is for occupation. Unless the enemy is as strong as the US, Marine is pretty much the only branch that'll see actual combat. They are simply trained to kill everything. Because often they do not even have the time to consider any other option under enemy fire.
The marine in your class talk about loving war is because he's the one killing. When the table turns around, he'll learn to fear, fast.
My njrotc instuctor,a First Sergeant from the Marine Corps, taught me that you will never truly understand a marine unless you are a marine yourself. The Marine Boot Camp is the longest and most difficult of the five branches and I respect everyone that made it through. Believe me, most of them don't like killing anymore than we do.

Buddy, being in NJROTC has nothing to do with joining the military, reserve or a.d. It stands for Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps and it's an elective course offered in high school. We have no obligations of joining the military.
soon you are going to hear all the benefits of joining military been a NJROTC, then you'll think about it, next thing you know, you are signing on the dotted line.

Ha ha, you're absolutely right. I'm already hearing about all the benefits from my instructors. Out of all the cadets in leadership positions, I think I'm the only one not tempted to join. I like the military and all that but I'm not crazy enough to join, especially after spending a week on a navy ship. The only reason that I'm staying in it is because it's a really fun class.

i spent a year and half on a navy ship There are some good times, and there are some pretty bad ones.
I bet you liked the food there The first five day we were there we ate on the mess deck and the food was nasty. I had three meals in five days and survived on candy, potato chips, cookies, ice cream, and soda. Our last meal there we ate in the officer's wardroom with the XO and the meal was delicious. The officers have it made. We stayed in their stayrooms and they're so much better than the berthing. They tried to get us to spend as much time as possible with the officers so we wouldn't see the bad side of the navy but we hang out with the enlisted every chance we got.

trust me, you will not see the real life of a enlisted person. Maybe you'll talk to them in the p-way, or have them give you a tour of their space, but you probably never seen them work. Anyway, no point for me to keep going if you aren't thinking about joining :lol
