suggestion wanted

I wanna to read some English novel, or stories which can help me understand American culter deeper and also improve my English.
Is there any suggestion I can get?

You need to figure out where you are at reading, your reading speed, vocabulary and reading comprehension, for example, and then start a novel that fits you. There are a lot of textbooks about American History and Culture for junior high students I recommend for the people to learn English as a second language. As to reading novels, Mitch Albom's books are good for beginners and Yiyun Li's "A Thousand Years of Good Prayers" for those with Chinese background.

Yes, as you said maybe I don't have enough vocabulary for  reading a novel, no mention my reading speed.  but I still want to have a try.
Actually, all I do now is improving my English. About ten year ago, I took a TOEFL exma in  my bachlelor. That was a real shame, just 527. I dont think there is any improvement on my English since then. Maybe worse.

reading novel is not the only way to understand A's history and culture,you might make friends with A,better live with A's family.

Reading comic strips is a quick, easy and fun way to learn conversation English and absorb some culture as well. Some comic strip, however, require you to keep up with the news, the political landscape, and knowledge of religion and literature.  Here are two sites with lots of comic strips. One is the Washington Post, and the other is the Seatle Post.
