Kenny Chesney --- When The Sun Goes Down

來自Tennessee(田納西州)Knoxville(諾克斯維爾)的Kenny Chesney，1968 年3月26日出生在鄰近的小城路特瑞爾（已故鄉村吉他大師Chet Atkins（切特亞特金斯）的故鄉）。跟大部分鄉村歌手不同的是，儘管他從小就喜歡聽鄉村音樂和搖滾，可是始終沒有認真的考慮過歌唱，只是一個很普通的平凡學生，甚至連追女朋友都不是很順利。後來，他進入東田納西州立大學，主修市場行銷。有一天他一邊開車一邊聽收音機，裡面播送的是Merle Haggard（梅爾哈加德）唱的「That's The Way Love Goes」，歌聲打動了他，直到有人送給他聖誕禮物（一把吉他），才讓他在好奇之中開始練習，就這樣激發了他強烈的興趣，沒有多久，他就開始參加表演，除了學校內的活動，他還陸續參加過幾支樂隊，賺取小費、並且開始嘗試寫歌。當時，他賣唱的餐館裡面，其他人多半表演藍調、搖滾或民歌，幾乎只有他一個經常演唱George Jones（喬治瓊斯）或小漢克威廉斯（Hank Williams, Jr.）等人的鄉村歌曲。由於他態度認真、表演賣力，歌聲也相當不錯，逐漸吸引了不少支持者。有一天，他下定決心，請後來成為歌手的Alison Krauss（艾莉森克勞斯）樂隊班底的幾位大學好友幫忙伴奏，灌錄了一張自己作品的演示專輯，壓制了一千張，在賣唱的現場銷售，很快的就全部賣光，給了他很大的信心。

1991年，Kenny Chesney大學畢業后，決心勇闖歌壇。他獨自前往Nashville（納什維爾）發展，在一些小酒店賣唱，同時開始把自己譜寫的作品拿到出版公司去找尋伯樂。著名的鄉村製作大師Kyle Lehning（凱爾列寧）告訴他，「你確實非常有潛力，但是現在還不夠成熟。」因此，他只好繼續努力，為了生活，他還得到處打工，擔任幫人家停車的小弟。1992 年，他前往Grand Ol' Opry（老大歌劇院），參加一家出版機構的試唱會，得到了作曲的合約。大約一年後，他在一項歌曲作家的聚會中表演，引起Capricorn唱片公司的興趣，於是把他簽下，在 1994年推出首張專輯《In My Wildest Dreams》，這是一張LP專輯，其中的兩首單曲，「Whatever It Takes」和「The Tin Man」都打進鄉村排行，但名次並不是很高，最主要的原因是，鄉村音樂並非該公司的專長，不但無法大力予以宣傳，公司還撤銷自己的鄉村音樂部，唱片銷售結果並不盡如人意，使得Kenny Chesney在鄉村歌壇剛剛起步就遭到挫折。還好，天無絕人之路，RCA唱片的一位主管非常欣賞他的才華，不但買下他首張專輯的版權重新發行，還安排他在該公司的副牌BNA唱片繼續推出新作。1995年6月，BNA推出Kenny Chesney加盟之後的首張專輯《All I Need To Know》（所有的我需要熟悉），而首支單曲「Fall In Love」（墮入情網）更是拿到「Billboard」鄉村排行的第6名，這才開始引起歌迷們廣大的注意。
