According to my 12-yo daughter, our home is her free restaurant. One morning she got up and arrived at table for breakfest, she noticed there was no plate on her side. She said there was no plate, and waited us to get her one. After waiting some time without success, she commented that in a restaurant, a waiting staff would bring her one in a minute. We told her that this is not a restaurant as you are not going to pay tips. Her reply surprised and shocked us all: this is a free restaurant.
Sometime we as parents tend to do too much for our children without giving them enough chance to do things for themselves. As a result, they take everything for granted. The chilren raised up this way will be lack of not only life skills and responsibility, but also appreciation and gratitude toward other's work.
