以下是一些常中文口Z的英g，量不把中文口Z（俗Z）照字直g，以免「拖泥水」，е呂賢狻M^F水」。而是把口Z中的主要意思，用我錐淖志洌g槊勒Z，供x者⒖肌

（1）害人之心不可有，防人之心不可o：

可g成： You (We) should not hurt others, but protect yourself (ourselves ) from being ( getting ) hurt.

或： Do not ( intend to ) hurt others, but be prepared to pro-tect yourself from being ( getting ) hurt.

( intend to 可省去 )

美Z也有另一f法： Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.（肯定句）（unto 是古字＝to）

或： Do not do unto others what you would not have them do unto you.（也可用否定句）

（也就是「己所不欲，勿施於人」）

在日常生活上只f： Treat others as you want to be treated.

因檫@是祈使句，所以句首的you被省去。就是f，你Υe人，就像你要e人怎Υ恪


（2）B不教父之^：

可g椋 It is a father's fault to rear a child and not educate him/her.

或： To rear and not educate a child is a father's fault.

或： To raise a child without education is a father's fault.

不^老外往往倒J榻甜B號悄贛H的任；至少也是父母或L的任。

在美號16q前（各州年gú煌┤綣改覆凰退去上W，是犯法的。（除非父母能C明是 home-schooling )


（3）天下大，合久必分，分久必合：

有人g成： Of all the great events under Heaven, when united for long, there must be separation ; when separated for long, there must be re-unification.

也可g成： It is a law of the universe that when long united, there must be separation ; when long separated, there must be re-unification.

老外也有另一f法： Nothing is permanent , but change.

或： Nothing stays the same but change.

（除油猓]有永a的事。）（but＝except）

也就是： Life is always in flux.

（flux 是チ鰨flow，而 in flux意思是 in flowing 或changeable；也就是生活是恫嗟淖化中。）


（4）大B千g，夜眠六尺； 良田f，日食斗米：

照字面，可以g成： Even though you own a mansion with a thousand rooms , you only sleep in a six-foot-long bed；even though you own ten thousand acres of land , you eat only a small bowl of rice.

蔚卣f： Even you have an abundance of wealth, you can per-sonally only use a small portion of it.（it 指 wealth）

S多美艘艙J槿松槐剞彰非蠼皰X、物|，因樗懶艘不走。所以他常f：You can not take it with you.（it 指 wealth）他有X人，非常嶁墓媧壬剖I，很少花在吃喝玩貳＿@c，老中有X人，可以W。

有，美艘渤Ｕf： No matter how rich they are, we are all the same in the end.

（似乎，有X]有什N了不起，大家最後都一印＃


（5）不@，f敬自：

有人g成： Don't be disquieted in time of adversity. Be firm with dignity and vigorous self-reliance.

或： Remain calm in the face of adversity；maintain your dignity and self-reliance.

蔚卣f： Be calm and self-reliant in time(s) of adversity.

或： Be calm and (be) not a^fraid in time(s) of adversity.

（第二 be，可以省去。老外喜g肯定句，愈斡謾＃


（6）[B]_卷常有益，龠[百花@[/B]：

可g成： It's always better to read a book than to visit a beautiful ( gorgeous ) garden.

或： You will gain more knowledge by reading a book than visiting a flower garden.


（7）入禁，入lS俗：

可按字面g椋 On entering a country , ask what is forbidden ; on en-tering a village , ask what are the customs.

或g成： When you are in a new nation, you should understand its laws and customs.

或： Be culturally aware when entering a new country.

老外也有似的f法： When in Rome , do what Romans do.

除非_玩笑，不f： When in America, do what Americans do.

（17）r了夫人又折兵： （也就是白白地花M了心思，本想佔便宜，反而吃了大）

照句意可g成： In one's attempt to take advantage of others , one may actually lose more in the end.

或： In taking advantage of others, not only one's efforts are in vain , but also one hurts oneself badly.

或： In trying to reap more benefits from others , one ends up with nothing.

老美也有另一f法： Hoist by his own petard.

（hoist 是e起；petard 是h。也就是搬石^砸自己的_，或是害人反害己。= Hurt by one's own scheme.）


（18）鞠躬M瘁，死而後已： （M心竭力，到底，ol件地I出自己的一切力量，到死櫓梗

可g成： To achieve your goal , you must devote yourself to the cause until your death.

或： When you want to reach a goal , it's important to give (it) your all.

或： To achieve one's goal , one must be fully committed.


（19）蚌相O翁得利： （也就是煞較諶攉@利。）

可g成： When there is a fight between two parties , a third party gets the benefits.

或： Conflict between two parties exposes their vulnerability to a third party.

假如照字面f成： When the clam and a crane fight each other, the fish-erman will get the benefits.

（老美也S可以了解，不必解蚌楹蝸＃


（20）道高一尺，魔高一丈： （浩扔害，反抗愈激烈。）

可g成： The harder you oppress people, the more they oppose you.

或： The more you try to control a person , the more he/she will resist you.

或： The more you push a person , the more he / she will push back.


（21）清官y嗉帳：（家庭m十分}s，外人很y理解。）

可g成： It is even difficult for a judge to make an accurate de-cision on another's family matters.

或： An outsider can never really understand another per-son's family problems.


（22）恭敬不如命： （如果只客客猓蝗珥主人的意思。）

可g成： Rather than being over-courteous , it is better to honor what the host prefers.

或： The most courteous act is to follow your host's arrange-ments.

（老外比^乾脆，不像老中那N客套，也^尊重他人意，^不勉。）


（23）蚊子遭扇打，只樽： （也就是，f多了，就容易得罪人）

照字面可g椋 Just as a mosquito is killed for its bites; a person is shunned for his / her big mouth.

（shun是躲避；其釉~rB是：shun , shunned , shunning）（big mouth 是指不加思考yf，如果f，某人是 big mouth，很不Y貌，用r要小心）

或g成： Talking too much may lead to negative consequences.

或： To talk excessively, ultimately hurts oneself.


（24）淡泊明志，豁然大度： （不^名利，待人也很厚）

可g成： One seeks neither fame nor wealth; one treats others with forgiveness and kindness.

或： One leads one's life with kindness and forgiveness , rather than (in) the pursuit of fame and riches.

（one 指任何人；也可用 he 或 she）


（25）人善人欺，天不欺； 人喝伺攏觳慌： （就是f，好人被人欺侮，但上天不欺侮；娜e人怕，但上天不怕）

照字面g椋 A nice guy may be picked on by others, but not by Heaven; a bad guy may be feared by others, but not by Heaven.

依美酵秸f法就是： On Judgment Day , God will discern between good ver-sus bad.

或： God will decide everyone's fate on Judgment Day de-pending on one's behavior.

（Judgment Day 是上帝的腥眨discern是看出或J出；versus是介~＝against，是vs.是拉丁文）

也就是： Man proposes , God disposes.

（man＝human being指人；propose 是提h；dispose 是恚才牛患此^「\事在人，成事在天」）

至於Nice guys finish last.（好人吃），似乎是袢瞬灰齪萌耍Don't be a nice guy.），其原意有「不惜代r，勇往直前」的味道（Get ahead at any cost.）
