Many people asked me: 「Should the Chinese People learn English」? My answer is all the time 「Yes.」

English is one of the most important languages in the world. We know there are about 1.4 billions people using Chinese as their daily language, but these people are mainly concentrated in one country, China. Country or countries using Chinese as their official language are seldom. English speakers may not be so many as Chinese speakers but the language is used widely in many countries in the world. And countries like Canada, Australia, New Zeland, India, Singaport etc. use English as their official languages. The United Nations is using English as its main language during international meetings and discussions.

English, its advantages and superiority is beyond doubt in technical and scientific readings and writings. Without the English ability, it is difficult to peruse the content of the high-level scientific volumes.

Many Chinese wonder they could never learn a native or perfect English all their lives no matter how hard they work! Right, a native English speaker and a none-native English speaker are distinguished in some ways as in pronunciation, daily expression and proverb and slang et., but that is not important. Good English is defined as a 「clear expression;
without significant grammar mistake; and easy to understand」 patterns. Whoever says the British』s English is the only native good English is wrong!

Canadians speak Canadian English, Australians speak Australian English,and Indians speak Indian English. They are all English but they are all different in a sense. Anyway, they can understand one and the others without problem. So, should we say that they cannot speak good English? No! so-called native English is just a sense of Self-raised ethnical pride and patriotism!

As I said China has 1.3 billions population, now China has put English into its school course starting even the first graders in primary school. Imagining that Twenty years later, China will be the biggest English speaking country paralleling the Chinese language internally. Then, Chinese can also claim, if any one wants to, 「Perfect English Is The Chinese English"!

you can say it again

i can't agree you more as below.
Quote:
[U]pronunciation, daily expression and proverb and slang et., but that is not important. Good English is defined as a 「clear expression;

the above colored is our main target for learning english. if you only can express sth with 10 sentences at beginning, as you are awared of native speakers describe in 5 , keep that in your mind and practice makes perfect.

no matter it is authentic or not, you need to make it clear and communicate with people. let me ask a question, would you still talk to people if you realised your expression is chinglish?

if we put foreigners on our shoes, whether you can understand their expression of chinese? of course, you will put the meaning in our way and teach or modify his in some sense.

Don't be shy dude, practice makes perfect.

I like the discussion

I see some same or very closer points in you two( stage 1 and stage 2).
The English using for daily life is very important if you need it. No matter how
pure, how native, the correct expressing is the key point when yor are face to face with others.
