One afternoon when I came home from school, Mom asked me:"Did you see the little mirror?" I replied hurriedly:"No. I didn't see it." However, I lied to Mom. The little mirror was broken as early as half a year ago. It was broken by me. The story began from a baby turtle brought home by Mom. Mom bought it on the street. At once I and the baby turtle became good friends. The first thing I would do when coming back from school was to feed my baby turtle friend. One day, Dad and I went to South Sea Park and caught some fingerlings from a fish pond. We placed the fingerlings near the baby turtle to see how it flaunt. The baby turtle was so cute. When it spotted a fingerling, it stretched out its neck to bite. Oops! It was not the fish but a pebble at the bottom of the fish bowl. Aha! see, my turtle friend got mad. Over again, ready, snap. Got it! The turtle tore the fish apart with teeth and claws and swallowed it quickly. I couldn't help but shouted:"You're fierce!"
One evening I was reading, I came across a paragraph telling that turtles would pee when they see themselves in mirror. Interesting! I got started quickly. I took the baby turtle out of the fish bowl, wiped its body dry, and placed it in front of a little mirror. Then, I waited. Time passed but nothing happened. Why? Was the book just telling a joke? I double checked. Yeah! The turtle had its butt up to the mirror. No wonder. I turned it around and Waited again. Still no water out there. "What's up?" I grabbed the baby turtle, holding it for a close look. "Whiz!" It peed, all onto my hand. Hey, you naughty boy, I am not your pee pot! Just then, I heard Mom coming. In a desperate effort to cover up, I broke the little mirror into pieces.
Although it has since been a long time, I can still recall it vividly and feel amused for what happened that evening. [/COLOR] |
