Every player's career will have a drop off at some point and that has to be expected so there is no need to hate on him.

I lost a friendship because of a game like this. My friend was guarding this kid in AAU ball and the kid was on absolute fire. He drops 20~ in the first half I don』t think he ever missed a jump shot.
Coach says don』t leave this kid open to help on D because he』s just too hot. One of the first few possessions of the second half my friend goes to double someone in the corner, they get the ball out to this kid, hits another jumper.

I yell at him and say something like 「will you please check this man」. Much louder than I intended. His whole family heard me I』m sure.
我沖他大吼，跟他說「請您看好自己的人行嗎？」然而我控幾不巨記幾，聲音比我本意大了好多，他全家肯定都聽見了。
Anyways, later in the game I get switched off onto this kid. I follow him around the screen and I』m right behind him in my mind. He puts up a 3 and I go for a block and go straight through his body. And-1 3. I get pulled out the game and sit right next to my friend. Didn』t say a word to him lol. Our friendship was never the same.
後來我換防到了這個小哥，一直緊跟著他繞掩護，在我眼裡我是緊緊跟著他的。他突然干拔三分，我拚命試圖封蓋，卻不幸正中他的身體，送他一個3+1。我隨即被換下，就坐在我朋友旁邊。我一句話也沒敢跟他說哈哈。然後我們的友誼再也回不到過去了。
2 morals to this story:
I』m an awful teammate (and maybe friend).
And sometimes people are just hot.

EDIT: Wow this post has sparked some strange controversy about how this kid was soft. We were like 16 and his family, including his little brother who was about 7, heard me yell at him about not being able to defend a kid. He was trying his best and this kid was just hot.

I think it is fair for him to be pissed at me for calling him out for his defense in front of his family when he was doing his best. A lot of these responses are prime /r/iamverybadass material.

Naw man. You』d have to be there to really understand I guess. I yelled it at him. Anybody watching our game would』ve heard it. Not cool to put your teammate on blast for their family or the team you』re playing against to hear.
If you』re at a pick up game I think anything mildly constructive is fair.

The Easter game vs Chicago in 2012. Amare and Lin were both out with injuries and Melo hit those two clutch threes in the same spot at the end of the fourth quarter and in OT.

Watched this game with my parents who are both Knick fans. Was a very fun game. The highlight is amazing, but doesn't even include that the Bulls finished with the best record in the league (so beating them was really impressive), and that the Knicks comeback was really improbable (Bulls were up 10 with under 4 minutes, and the Bulls missed 4 straight FTs before Melo hit his tying 3).

The 2009 WCF versus Kobe Bryant』s Lakers. I don』t know what Melo』s numbers were in that series, but that』s beside the point I want to make.

It was physical as f***! I』ve never seen Melo play harder in my life. Kobe challenged him and to Melo』s credit he absolutely stepped up and played up to the challenge.
這對抗太特么刺激了！我從沒看過甜瓜打得這麼拼。科比不斷對他發起挑戰，而甜瓜也站了出來毫不示弱，屬實值得稱讚。
If Melo played more of his career with the type of passion he showed against Kobe in that series he would』ve had a ring. Or more playoff success at the very least. That series is my favorite moment and everything else was downhill after that.
如果甜瓜能夠在職業生涯中打出更多面對科比時一樣的激情，也許他現在就有一枚戒指啦，或者至少也能在季後賽中收穫更多成功。這輪系列賽就是我最愛的記憶，之後的一切就開始走下坡路了。
