益生菌用於疾病治療獲得成功
我們體內生活著大量的微生物。科學家們一直致力於弄清體內微生物對人體生理活動的影響,並嘗試通過微生物來治療或者預防疾病。2017年的一項研究為這一領域帶來了新的希望。
一項在印度進行的臨床試驗表明,口服植物乳桿菌這種細菌和一種名為果寡糖的糖類能夠將嬰兒敗血症的發生和死亡率降低40%[19]。由於實驗結果非常令人滿意,這項由美國內布拉斯加大學醫學中心PinakiPanigrahi教授主持的臨床試驗提早結束,因為管理方認為繼續給對照組的嬰兒服用安慰劑已經有違醫學倫理。
一位業內人士指出,這項臨床試驗之所以能夠取得很好的結果,是因為研究人員進行了充分的前期工作,不僅篩選出了合適的菌種,還找到了能夠幫助細菌繁殖的糖類。這位業內人士還指出,這項研究增強了人們通過控制和改造腸道微生物來防治疾病的信心。
