英語里有一句很著名的語：Don』t put all your eggs in one basket.這是用來件事情不可斯詛過高，如果把一切希望都寄托在其上的話，失敗時便難以接受打擊了。

很多時，人們認為已得的成果比較涉茫的希望更有實際價值，所以英國語有，。

如你是喜歡吃雞的話，那麼你便函不要討厭咯咯的叫聲，如果你要離受的話，那便要吃點部。因此英國人說：he that would have eggs must endure the cackling of hens 另外，使你曾過的話，你便知道下了之後，一定會咯咯大叫一番，引人注意。英國人從此又引出一句言，叫做Never cackle till your egg is laid.(事未完成莫誇耀。)

Don』t teach your grandmother to suck egg.這句語在表面看來已明其義。當我們對別人說「不要教你的祖母吃了」，意思是叫他「不要弄」；新一點的產法是「不要對著耶穌講道理」。

合同變了「殺手」

有些人可能對contract一字的意思不大清楚，那我把《新英漢詞典》的解抄出來。據該字典指出,contract作名詞用時,有七種意思:1契約、合同；婚約；合約橋；縮約詞。

按一般情況而言，以1和2兩種解法用途最廣。因此，按常理上述的一句說話應譯作：那是我能「買「到的最好的合同了。但是，這句話的真正含義卻不是這樣。主要問題出自」buy」一字，假如換了「sign」或「find」，那麼整句便可按表面字義解釋。

其實，這句說話是目前美國流行的口語之一。它的真正含義是：「那是我能請到的最佳殺了。」由此可見，contract這個含義正當的字竟然可以用來指「殺手」。這具用法的真實來源尚未清楚，但據一些價故事書揭，找黑社會殺手代行殺人勾當的時候，雙方要簦一份表面上看來極其正當的交易合約。請人的一方在簽約時付「酬金」的一半，其它一半在事成后再付。可能因為這個原因，contract竟增添了一個特別的用途。看來有資格簽約合約的人要注意點哩！

Not sure what 「道理」means here. I tend to think of it as "you are not good enough to lecture your professors" or "you can't teach a better lesson about faith than the Bible can teach you."

Another word worth mentioning here is "buy." I often hear "I don't buy (into this)," or "I don't buy your story (idea)." It means that although you have tried to convince me this is a true story (a good idea), I still can't believe in it (agree with you). It is probably from what one used to say to refuse a good that a salesperson is trying to sell to him.
