Different names have different meanings, but where are these meanings come from?

I wonder several Stephanie are popular models, some beautiful doctors and lawyers are always named as Ashley in the movie, so people get different characteristics from the different roles then infuse them into the name!

PS: I would like to change my name from Claire to JoJo, because I was told that Claire means clear, clean and sunny, JoJo just sounds like a kind of candy. I prefer my friends enjoy Candy this time.

I didn't know Adelyn is a name for female. For awhile I was a fan of a small quartet band of four male singers which pioneered a different s^tyle and happened to have this name. Later I came across a beautiful street of the same name when I was visiting a friend and that helped to etch the word on my memory.
