1.Charge or debit?  (Credit or debit?)

2. Cash back?

其只要你善用 cash back @功能,  那情r就完全不一恿,  cash back 就是f假O你I 10 K的|西, 但刷卡r你可以刷 30 元, 剩下的 20元他矛F金 20 K找你, 如此出T就不必著大P的F金, 又不必哳~的提款手mM.

3. How are you going to pay?

4. Double coupon.

5. Bring your receipt to the customer service, and they will refund you.

6. I want to take the raincheck for the eggs.

7. I am sorry you are on the Cash Only Lane

8. The price will go down.
@rX檔.

人 go down 跟 go up 很好用, 你不知道用什N釉~, 如 increase 或 surge, 就用 goes up,  像是有一次我去I汽保U, 我一直想他如果我一年中都]有理r, 那明年的保M檔? @降低我就一直想不起硪 decrease 好是 lower 好, Y果後砦也怕他f, "The price will go down." 再f一例子, 比如作r舛壬仙, @上升你可以f increase, 但也可以f,  "The concentration goes up."

另外似的口Zv法, 你可以用 rise 跟 drop 澩 go up 和 go down. 例如 "The price will drop."

9. We have a clearance sale today.

Tf, "Where can I find the clearance items?" 所^的 clearance item 就是清}, 零a的意思, 或是 odd sizes 也代表零a的意思.

10. Can you give me the invoice?

My stories

I returned a sweater six months after I purchased it and was a bit worn out. I placed a phone call and told the customer rep that I don't like the s^tyle and it was all set. I mailed the item and my credit card was charged back two weeks later. My colleagues even had the experience of getting an old cloth (bought a few years earlier and was, believe it or not, completely worn out at the time!) back to L.L.Bean, a privately owned mail-order apperal manufacturer.

(added)
Another colleague of mine told her own story that she used to write letters to complain about the shoes she bought from brand-name manufacturers. She was good at writing so everytime she got a new pair of shoes in later models from the same manufacturer. I guess this is probably the way the manufacturers say "thank you" for the enlightening ideas my colleague put forward in the letters she sent out. Does she know that maybe her ideas worth more than a pair of new shoes?

Items in the factory seal or out of box

However, you need to be alerted about the other side of the "return and no questions asked" policy. The "dark" side. What's that? I tell you my story: I once bought a leather jacket and only when I got home to try it again I found scratches and dirts on the edges of sleeves and a few other places. I took it back to the store, complained, the manager apologized and gave my the full credit.

(added)
There is another type of "used" goods that may be sold as new, that is, the goods that have been taken out of the original boxes. These can be the goods that were returned by customers and should have been sent back to the manufacturers, but for some reason did not. Although you can trust that reputable retailers follow their accords with manufacturers, still, it would save alot of trouble later on that you check the packaging, especially the seals outside the box, for the good you want to buy.

When shopping online, for example, at Ebay, you may come across phrases like "factory sealed" and "open-box item". For the former, the seller is giving you a guarantee that the item is as good as the one you can find at your local store for bit-by-bit comparisons while for the latter, the seller does not exclude the possiblity that you may find some minus defects but would look and use just like a new one except that.

Double coupons

In the mid and east, you have Kroger, and in the west you have Vons and Ralph (of course you can name more chain grocery stores) and they all offer double-coupon discounts that allow you to save twice the face value of each coupon. However, goods in these stores tend to have relatively small package size, meaning that you'll have to pay for the packagings which are rather wasted if you normally buy a few packs of the same good at a time. Coastocoast is a distributor-retailer grocery store chain that offers a different kind of conveniences, that is, it sales goods in package sizes two to four times larger. Although it usually doesn't give out as many discounts, the prices of the goods you actually pay are comparable to after the double-coupon elsewhere, thanks to the savings in packaging cost. The downside of this convenience is that you need to pay an annual fee (about US$20 per person) to be eligible for shopping and buying goods in Coastocoast stores.

Invoices and receipts

When you buy groceries and other everyday goods, you will receive a paper slip coming out of a cashier's calculator with printing capabilities. Keep the receipts for a day or two for you may need it as the proof of purchase in order to get a refund, if something went wrong. There are other occasions where you will receive a single page document (sometimes it can contain more pages) with all the details of your purchase on it, such as the name and the model number of the good, the date, your address, your phone number, your credit card number (if you pay with it), and the id of this purchase (the invoice number). When you buy a DVD player or a vacuum cleaner in a department store, order a camera or a computer online, check out a hotel room, book an airline ticket, and return a car you rented, you will receive an invoice of this kind. Keep your invoices at a safe place for later reference (for example, tax auditing).

Credit cards and cash cards

As you've already known, there is a surcharge for taking out cash (called "cash advance") with your credit card. What's more, the interest charge on the cash you advanced is always on the high end of the range, around 20% annually for most card issuers. Therefore, you must use cash cards for cashing out, from an ATM (automatic teller machine) or a cashier's machine at the checkout of a grocery store.

The caveat here is that many banks charge a transaction fee for routing your requests through the electronic lines within their networks. To aoid this extra cost, you may consider applying for a cash card from a local bank which has many ATM's in the town you live and nearby, and another one from a national bank with a nationwide ATM network. For example, Bank of America or Wells Fargo for the west and Citibank for the east.

For credit cards, be careful that you pay the bill on time every month. And for cash cards, not exceed the cash value in your checking account that is linked to your card. For this, it pays that you activate the email-alert mechanism on the website of your bank so that you will get a notice in advance of the coming bill or be warned of the abnormality in account activity. Once you missed one bill or two, the percentage rate of your interest charge would be very likely to increase, in a big way that bite you ouch!

If you have arrived at north America for not long, you will need to establish a good credit record, which actually includes everything that you are required to pay to live, such as rent, phone, electricity, water, and probably the car you buy with a loan. Unless you are so rich that you don't care to pay for everything you need in cash, you will have many encounters with Mr. Credit Score on this land later on.

When used properly, these cards will provide your with great conveniences. Otherwise, they may backfire taking a toll on your limited resources. In some sense, it can be compared to a two-sided sword which can cut into both directions.
