據29日出版的富比世雜誌 (Forbes)刊登的一份全國私立學校排名名單,紐約市有三所私校名列全國前五名,有七所列名前20名。
「紐約郵報」報導,這份名單主要是根據常春藤學校、麻省理工學院和斯坦福大學過去五年的取錄率而定。
為首的是曼哈坦上西城的三一學校 (Trinity School)、依次是河谷 (Riverdale)的霍勒斯曼中學(Horace Mann)。麻州的安德沃菲利普斯中學 (Phillips Academy Andover)排名第三。
加州上榜的有兩所:南加州的Harvard-Westlake和灣區奧克蘭的College Preparatory School。
其他榜上有名的紐約市私校還包括:布里爾利 (Brearley)和史賓斯(Spence)和查普林(Chapin)等著名女校,以及Collegiate和道爾頓 (Dalton)等高水平學校。這些學校學費一般每年都要3萬美金以上。
除了大學的錄取率數據,學生和教師的比例、擁有高級學位教師的比率、和學校的捐款數目等也是決定這項私校排名的主因。
排第一位的三一學校,每六名學生便有一位教師,80%以上的教師擁有高級學位,以及每年獲得4000萬元捐款。另外,過去五年,該校有42%畢業生被全國前10名的大學錄取。
