Let me add another few words as well... for MONTHS the Chinese consulate throughout the United States has been saying one consistent thing to all of the Chinese groups: please don't protest, please don't bring attention to this issue. There've been pro-China demonstrations throughout Canada and Europe, but zero in the United States for precisely that reason. We were even told that wearing the color red might not be politically correct. After the events of the last week however, we couldn't care less what the consulate wanted. We showed up wearing red and waving our flag, because that's what our conscience demanded of us. Finally, much thanks to the gracious cops of San Francisco, who were courteous and professional throughout the whole experience.
