Anybody can say this is good and that is good. For me, this is my land, and I'll always feel proud of her, for rich or poor, for better or worse. This fact will never change!

Nothing feels better than being understood.

Yesterday afternoon, after my son came back from school, I brought him to my computer and let him look at these photos.

I said to him, son, you are a Chinese, maybe an American-Chinese, this is the land your ancestors were born to. Feel proud of it and feel proud you are a Chinese. If you don't, you will not be respected, you will not have confidence in yourself.

My son said to me," I understand."

謝謝Classical﹗是你自己拍的嗎﹖好像都是在廣西桂林附近吧。我插隊的地方也是梯田﹐但山沒有那麼高。看看是美的﹐不過要在這樣高的層層梯田上耕作可就很不簡單了。

說起來慚愧。這些照片竟然是外國人電郵來的。標題是「從空中拍攝的中國廣西風景」。我對攝影還沒有認真到需要租直升飛機。希望以後能做到。

我爸曾經被下放到貴州都勻接受「再教育」長達近十年。我唯一的舅舅是在貴陽那裡被文革整死的。我以後應該去那裡看看。緬懷一下。感受一下。

One fact - these scenes are very beautiful. But none of the natural beauties were created by Chinese people. We just happen to live there. There are most likely more such beautiful scenes have been destroyed by Chinese people. i agree that we should be proud of our heritage. But we need to know who we are. Not just blindly grab something to feel good about.

Can we feel proud of our own land? It's not blind to feel proud of our own land but it is blind to not feel the pride.

Only when we feel proud can we start doing something to keep it, and not to ruin it. If we don't feel proud, how can we do any good things to it?
