Phrasal Verbs For Valentine's Day


ASK OUT (ask sb. out, ask out sb.)

meaning: ask someone on a date
example: He was too nervous to ask her out.

BLURT OUT (blurt sth out, blurt out sth)

meaning: to say something suddenly and without thinking, usually because you are excited or nervous
example: On their second date, Joe blurted out "Will you marry me?" Jessica was shocked and ran away.

FALL FOR (fall for sb.)

meaning: to fall in love with someone or be very interested in someone
example: Joan fell for Matt when he cooked a delicious meal for her.

RUN OFF (with sb.)
meaning: to secretly go away with someone to live or to get married, often when others do not support the relationship
example: They were in their first year of university when they ran off together.

GO OUT (with sb)
meaning: have a romantic relationship with someone
example: They had been going out for 4 years before they decided to break up.
