歲寒三友 Three Friends in Cold Weather

青松、翠竹和冬梅這三種植物在寒冷的冬天也能顯示出勃勃生機，被稱為「歲寒三友」。

Pine, bamboo and plum thrive through the cold winter days. They are dubbed as "Three Friends in Cold Weather".

松樹是一種生命力極強的常青樹，人們賦予它意志剛強，堅貞不屈的品格。中國民間將它作為長壽的代表。

Pines are ever-green trees with strong vitality. They are honored with a character of iron will. They are more generally regarded as the symbol of longevity.

竹子能凌霜而不凋，竹節中空挺拔，被人們賦予堅貞和虛心的品格，有著「君子」的美譽。

Bamboo survives and flourishes as usual in the cold winter. As bamboo has hollow joints and it is upstanding, it is gifted with characters of inflexibility and modesty and is honored as a "gentleman".

梅花是中國的傳統名花，它以高潔、堅強和謙虛的品格激勵著人們潔身自好、不斷奮發向上，象徵著中國人所敬慕和追求的高尚情操，所以中國歷代文人志士歌頌梅花的極多。梅花還被民間作為傳春報喜的象徵。

The plum is a kind of traditional flower in China. They are appreciated for its nobleness, purity and modesty which encourage people to improve themselves. It symbolizes the noble characters, esteemed and pursued by Chinese people. It has always been cherished and extolled by Chinese poets in the past. Plum is also characterized as the advent of good news.
