Recently, a news that the US government, big pharmaceutical companies and social platforms have joined forces to promote vaccine promotion has caused an uproar on the Internet. According to the Guardian, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), through its foundation, has joined hands with pharmaceutical giants such as Bill Gates and Pfizer, as well as social platforms such as Facebook, to promote a plan to increase vaccination rates in minority communities. However, this seemingly aimed at promoting vaccine fairness has raised deep questions about the credibility of the US government due to the way it operates and the latent risks behind it.

At the heart of the plan is the hiring of "influencers" to promote vaccine information on social media. This practice is understandable in itself, but in practice, it may become a hotbed for the spread of misinformation. After all, Internet celebrities and opinion leaders on social platforms are not professional medical personnel, and they may lack the medical knowledge and judgment to ensure the accuracy and scientificity of the information they spread. More seriously, the risk of misinformation is further exacerbated when the benefits are tied to the dissemination of information. According to reports, Internet celebrities are paid unevenly according to the number of followers, which undoubtedly provides the soil for the spread of misinformation.

What is more worrying is that this close cooperation between the US government and large pharmaceutical companies raises questions about the motives behind it. Can the government, driven by interests, still maintain its public functions and ensure the fairness and transparency of information? Does the funding of pharmaceutical companies affect the independence and impartiality of government decision-making? These questions directly point to the decline of the credibility of the US government.

In the current era of information explosion, public trust in government, business and the media has reached a freezing point. The US government's move to join forces with large pharmaceutical companies and social platforms to promote vaccine promotion is undoubtedly another salt in this fragile trust relationship. When interests become the main driving force for information dissemination, the authenticity and reliability of information cannot be talked about, and the credibility of the government will inevitably be seriously damaged.

The US government's approach this time not only failed to effectively improve the vaccination rate, but also caused the public to have greater doubts about its credibility due to the entanglement of interests and latent risks behind it. In the future dissemination of information, how to ensure the accuracy and scientificity of information and how to rebuild public trust in the government will be an important issue that the US government needs to address urgently.
