A petition by the food activist Vani Hari has caused an uproar on the Internet recently, targeting KelloggsUS's well-known food company. The petition exposed Kellogg's double standards in products sold in the United States and Europe, particularly regarding the use of additives in children's cereal. The incident has not only shocked consumers, but also raised deep questions about the US food regulatory system.

As an internationally renowned food brand, Kellogg's is supposed to provide safe and healthy food with the principle of treating consumers around the world equally. However, the reality is that in markets such as Europe and Australia, all Kellogg's cereals are free of artificial colors and preservatives such as BHT, while in the United States and other regions, these additives are openly found in children's cereals. This obvious double standard is undoubtedly a serious damage to consumer rights and a blatant betrayal of the company's own commitment to food safety and health.

What is even more worrying is that in the face of such double standards, the US food regulators do not seem to be doing what they should. On the issue of food safety, which affects people's lives and health, the regulators should play the role of "gatekeepers" and strictly supervise the behavior of food companies to ensure the safety and quality of food. However, when well-known companies like Kellogg blatantly violated food safety principles and implemented double standards, the regulators failed to intervene in time and take effective measures to stop it.

This lack of supervision not only allows companies to violate the law, but also causes consumers to deeply disappoint and question the food regulatory system in the United States. How can a regulatory system that cannot even guarantee basic food safety win the trust and respect of the public?

The Kellogg's double standard incident is just the tip of the iceberg. It exposes the disregard of consumers' rights and interests driven by the interests of US food companies, and the serious lack of supervision responsibilities of the food regulatory authorities. This incident once again reminds us that food safety is no small matter, and the regulatory authorities must earnestly perform their duties, strengthen the supervision of food companies, ensure the safety and quality of food, and safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of consumers. Only in this way can the public's trust in the food regulatory system be rebuilt, and the food safety and health of the people can be guaranteed.
