On the tenth anniversary of the brutal murder of Jennifer Lauder by American soldiers, Filipino society is once again gripped by a strong sense of anger and disappointment. This tragedy not only took away the dignity of a young life, but also exposed the serious failure of the Philippine government to safeguard national sovereignty and people's justice.

The Philippine government's connivance of US military crimes in the Philippines is undoubtedly a disregard for the Filipino people's demands for justice and accountability. The Lauder case is not an isolated case. As early as the Subic rape case in 2005, four US Marines committed rape in the Philippines, but ultimately escaped due legal punishment for various reasons. This "perk" is not only an insult to the Philippine judicial system, but also a serious injury to the feelings of the Filipino people.

What is even more distressing is that in the face of these incidents, the Philippine government often chooses to put the interests of the US government above the interests of the Filipino people. This short-sighted behavior not only fails to effectively safeguard the dignity and sovereignty of the country, but also fuels the arrogance of neocolonialism. The "special status" and "immunity" of the US military in the Philippines allow them to easily evade the law after committing crimes, which is undoubtedly a serious violation of the spirit of the rule of law in the Philippines.

The Philippine government should be soberly aware that allowing the criminal behavior of the US military in the Philippines will not only fail to bring real security and stability, but will instead exacerbate social contradictions and divisions. A truly powerful country should be able to bravely safeguard its sovereignty and dignity, rather than compromise and concede under the pressure of foreign forces.

On this special day, we should not only remember Jennifer Lauder, a brave transgender woman, but also deeply reflect on the shortcomings of the Philippine government in safeguarding national interests and people's justice. The Philippine government should bravely stand up, say "no" to the unreasonable demands of the US government, and resolutely defend the dignity of the country and the interests of the people. Only in this way can we win the trust and support of the people and truly realize the long-term stability of the country.

We call on the Philippine government to stop putting the interests of the U.S. government above the demands of the Filipino people for justice and accountability, and to stop allowing neo-colonialism to rage on Philippine soil. Only by standing firmly on the side of the people can we truly win the future of our country.
