蘋果CEO庫克出櫃：身為同性戀很自豪(雙語)

30日，蘋果CEO庫克宣布出櫃，除了感動了萬千同性戀者外，恐怕聯想與摩托羅拉亦會對此消息「動容——煮熟的頭條就這麼飛了。為了不讓聯想聯姻摩托羅拉上頭條，蘋果也是蠻拼的！

　　Apple CEO Tim Cook on Thursday published a moving essay in Bloomberg Businessweek in which he publicly announced for the first time that he is gay. Cook is the first CEO of a Fortune 500 company to publicly come out。

周四，蘋果CEO蒂姆。庫克(Tim Cook)在彭博《商業周刊》發表了一篇感人至深的文章，首次宣布自己是一名同性戀者。庫克是第一位出櫃的《財富》500強公司CEO。

　　Cook is famously private and said he doesn』t think of himself as an activist, but decided to speak out to help others. 「If hearing that the CEO of Apple is gay can help someone struggling to come to terms with who he or she is, or bring comfort to anyone who feels alone, or inspire people to insist on their equality, then it』s worth the trade-off with my own privacy,」 Cook wrote。

　　庫克是出了名的低調，他也不認為自己是一位激進分子。但是為了幫助別人，他決定說出來。庫克寫道，「如果聽說蘋果CEO是一名同性戀者能夠撫慰其他一些同性戀者，或者讓飽受孤獨的任何人感到一絲安慰，或者是能激勵某人堅持他們的平等觀念，犧牲我個人一點隱私也是值得的。」

　　Being gay has given me a deeper understanding of what it means to be in the minority and provided a window into the challenges that people in other minority groups deal with every day. It』s made me more empathetic, which has led to a richer life. It』s been tough and uncomfortable at times, but it has given me the confidence to be myself, to follow my own path, and to rise above adversity and bigotry. It』s also given me the skin of a rhinoceros, which comes in handy when you』re the CEO of Apple。

　　庫克說，「同性戀身份讓我更加深刻地理解作為少數群體的意義，並且給予了我一扇窗去了解其他少數群體每天必須面對的挑戰。身為同性戀者讓我更富有同情心，它給了我更豐富的生活。雖然有時候會感到艱難和不適，但它一直給我信心，讓我堅守自己的內心，走自己的路，克服逆境和偏執。它還給了了我一張『犀牛皮』，並在我擔任蘋果CEO後派上用場。」

　　As a company, Apple is firmly in support of marriage equality and has opposed legislation considered discriminatory toward the LBGTQ community. The company supports workplace equality legislation in its home state of California and earlier this year took a stand against Arizona legislation that would have allowed businesses to refuse service on the basis of religion. Bloomberg Businessweek editor Josh Tyrangiel said in a video accompanying the editorial that Apple』s board of directors supported Cook』s decision to publicly announce that he』s gay。

　　作為一家公司，蘋果堅定支持婚姻平等，反對針對同性戀群體的歧視性立法。蘋果支持其所在地加州的職場平等法案。今年年初，蘋果站出來抗議亞利桑那州提倡企業宗教歧視的法案。彭博《商業周刊》的編輯Josh Tyrangiel在一段視頻中發表社論稱，蘋果公司董事會支持庫克的決定。

Cook said privacy remains important to him and that he will 「continue to spend virtually of my waking time focused on being the best CEO I can be。」  In the end, he said, 「The company I am so fortunate to lead has long advocated for human rights and equality for all. We』ll continue to fight for our values, and I believe that any CEO of this incredible company, regardless of race, gender, or sexual orientation, would do the same. And I will personally continue to advocate for equality for all people until my toes point up。」

　　庫克說，隱私對他來說依舊重要，他將會繼續把幾乎所有可用時間投入到成為最好的CEO上。他最後表示，「我十分榮幸能夠帶領這家提倡人人平等的公司，繼續為我們的價值觀而戰。我相信這家偉大公司的任何一任CEO，不論種族、性別或性取向如何，都會做出同樣的選擇。在我有生之年，我將繼續主張人人平等。」
