木樁上的烏龜

在德州有個朋友（不是山東的德州〕，是位根紅苗正的傳統共和黨人士，也說不定他最近成了茶黨的積極分子。時不長就發些美國「右派言論」的郵件過來，從中可以看到一些老美的真實想法。以下便是一例：

醫生一邊為一位牧場勞作而割破手的德州老牛仔作縫合手術，一邊與這位75歲的老頭聊天。不知不覺地談到奧巴馬成為美國總統的話題。

老牛仔說道：「嗨，你知道嗎？奧巴馬只不過是個木樁烏龜。」

醫生不明白其中的含義，便問到：「什麼是木樁烏龜？」

老牛仔答道：「當你在鄉村道路上開車時，你會碰到牧場圍欄的木樁頂上爬著只烏龜，那就是木樁烏龜。」

老傢伙看到大夫一臉茫然、大惑不解的表情，便解釋說：
」你知道吧，他自己是爬不到那兒的，他也不應該待在那兒；待在那兒他不知道干點什麼好，但一時半會兒他還哪兒也走不得。那你就想到底是什麼樣的傻瓜把他放上去的呢？」

Post Turtle

While suturing up a cut on the hand of a 75 year old rancher, whose
hand had been caught in the gate while working his cattle, the doctor
struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got
around to Obama, and his being our president.

The old rancher said, "Well, ya know, Obama is just a Post Turtle."

Now not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked,

What's a "Post Turtle?"

The old rancher said, "When you're driving down a country road and
you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a
post turtle."

The old rancher saw the puzzled look on the doctor's face so he
continued to explain. "You know he didn't get up there by himself, he
doesn't belong up there, he doesn't know what to do while he's up
there, he sure as heck ain't goin' anywhere, and you just wonder what
kind of dumb ass put him up there in the first place."
