Once my previous boss took me to a Taiwanese restaurant, and she told me that it was the best Taiwanese foods in town.

When we got there, I started ordering foods in Mandarin, and then I saw her surprised expression, and I asked why. She questioned me since when I could speak Taiwanese, and this time, surprise belonged to me.

All those time, she believed Taiwan was a separate country from China, which had its own culture and language, so I told her the little history I knew about mainland China and Taiwan. She told me that they had never learnt that piece of history in school. Now, she thinks Taiwan should be part of China and every time she calls, she』d say 「ni hao」.
