#71，把postdoc 說成跟assistant professor 差不多。可見你對美國tenure系統太不了解。Assistant Professor 中文翻譯應為助理教授。不宜翻成助教。助教在美國是teaching assistant. Assistant Professor 一般是在tenure track 上。做3-6年可升職為Associate Professor (副教授），並得到tenure. Tenure track professors (including Assistant, Associate, and Full) are considered core faculty in any school. There are none tenure track professors (also include all three ranks). But it will take another step for them to get tenure (所謂的終生教授）。For a PostDoc to get a faculty position, it is not easy. You know on average how many applications there are for a faculty position? 200 applications. These are 200 Ph.D.'s with relevant background for the position.
李開復如果是tenure track Assistant Professor, 說明他還是很行的。至於為什麼辭職，也許拿tenure無望？
至少他的中文自傳有兩處不妥：
1。Assistant Professor 不是副教授。
2。蘋果副總裁那段，英文版沒有，讓人覺得是自己（或寫書的）發揮的。

另外，樓上很多人打擊方舟子。這是不對的。這叫character assassination. 我們需要方舟子打假。現在說的是李開復的問題。方舟子如果有問題，可以另外討論。我們應該敬佩方舟子的勇氣。
