- The truth is. why there is only one country, America, working so hard on the island of Taiwan ? Why not other countries ? The answer is America wanted to make Taiwan into it's colony since year 1905 by President F. Roosevelt after he opened Japanese door and took over the Philippines. This is in American history books and it is part of American foreign policy since year 1905.Today, we should know it in order to understand why America is holding Taiwan. mak
